Then Jesus said, “What is the Kingdom of God like? How can I illustrate it? It is like a tiny mustard seed that a man planted in a garden; it grows and becomes a tree, and the birds make nests in its branches.” (Luke 13:18-19)

​そこで、イエスは言われた。「神の国は何に似ているか。何にたとえようか。それは、からし種に似ている。人がこれを取って庭に蒔くと、成長して木になり、その枝には空の鳥が巣を作る。」(ルカによる福音書 13:18-19)

​One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up. “There was a judge in a certain city,” he said, “who neither feared God nor cared about people. A widow of that city came to him repeatedly, saying, ‘Give me justice in this dispute with my enemy.’ The judge ignored her for a while, but finally he said to himself, ‘I don’t fear God or care about people, but this woman is driving me crazy. I’m going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!’”

Then the Lord said, “Learn a lesson from this unjust judge. Even he rendered a just decision in the end. So don’t you think God will surely give justice to his children who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly! (Luke 18:1-8)

​ある日、イエスは弟子たちに、いつでも祈り、また答えられるまで祈り続けることを教えようと、一つのたとえを話されました。 「ある町に、少しも神を恐れず、人を人とも思わない裁判官がいました。同じ町に住む一人の未亡人が、たびたびこの裁判官のところへ押しかけ、『訴えられて困っています。どうか私を守ってください』と願い出ました。 裁判官はしばらくの間、相手にしませんでしたが、あまりのしつこさに我慢できなくなり、心の中でこう考えました。『私は神だろうが人間だろうがこわくないが、あの女ときたらうるさくてかなわない。しかたがない。裁判をしてやることにしよう。そうすれば、もうわずらわしい思いをしなくてすむだろう。』」 

主は続けて言われました。「このように、悪徳裁判官でさえ音を上げてしまうのなら、まして神は、昼も夜もひたすら訴え続ける信者たちを、必ず正しく取り扱ってくださるはずです。そうは思いませんか。 神はすぐにも答えてくださるのです。(ルカの福音書 18:1-8)
